Rasheed Walker’s Big Score: NFL Star Signs Major Deal, Surprises Fans and Boosts Team's Budget!

Rasheed Walker's one-year deal with the Panthers has a base value of only $4 million.

The details on Rasheed Walker's one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers are in, and the numbers are even more staggering than the initial reports. While the deal has a value of up to $10 million, the base value of the deal is only $4 million, including a $2 million signing bonus. His minimum base salary is also guaranteed in 2026.

Per Over the Cap , Walker's cap number in 2026 is only $4 million, with $3,125,000 guaranteed. The numbers are almost unbelievable considering many projected Walker -- a three-year starter at left tackle -- to be a top free agent in the class, with the capability of earning a multi-year deal worth $20 million or more per season. Instead, Walker had to settle for something close to the bare minimum for an available starting left tackle -- a highly incentivized one-year deal with little guaranteed money.

Walker's $4 million base value means the Packers probably won't get a compensatory pick back for losing him in free agency. His deal with the Panthers should get cancelled out by the signing of cornerback Benjamin St-Juste. The adjustment doesn't change much because the Packers should still receive the maximum of four comp picks, including a sixth-round pick for losing Kingsley Enagbare to the New York Jets on a one-year, $9 million deal.

But had Walker signed a deal worth $20 million or more per season, the Packers could have received a third-round pick in 2027. His crashing out in free agency cost Green Bay at least three rounds of pick value. A combination of a poor contract season in Green Bay, a poor performance in the postseason, a gun charge in New York from January and a poor market overall all combined to tank Walker's value in free agency, and, as a result, the comp pick value coming back to the Packers.
