Over in the WBC, the Venezuelans defeated the US 3-2. If I added the quip here that I used last week, the complaint would be “that already happened months ago!! ” A Wilyer Abreu moonshot gave VEN a 2-0 lead in the top of the 5th.
It would stay 2-0 for a while. Bryce Harper evened up the score 2-2 with a 2-run dinger in the bottom of the 8th. But the tie was short-lived as Eugenio Suarez doubled in the winning run in the 9th.
It hurts me to link to a Yankee website, but here is one perspective that is worth thinking about. Bac k to the Guardians now • Pedro Avila was granted his release. Could he be headed back overseas?
