Texas guard Tramon Mark (12), left, scores a go-ahead basket with 1 second remaining during the second half in a First Four college basketball game in the NCAA Tournament against North Carolina State, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. (Kareem Elgazzar/AP) It didn't take long for the madness to begin. Texas faced off with NC State in the First Four of the NCAA Tournament as the pair of No.
11 seeds decided who would move on to face No. 6 seed BYU in the West Region. The Longhorns appeared to be cruising to a comfortable win, carrying a nine-point lead into the final two minutes of the game.
But a stretch filled with hot shooting from NC State and Texas turnovers brought the Wolfpack back into the game. NC State's Tre Holloman made 1 of 2 free throws with 18 seconds remaining to tie the game at 66. Then, it was the Longhorns' chance to make March memories.
They gave the ball to Tramon Mark, who finished with 17 points, and he became the hero for Texas with a game-winning jumper that gave the Longhorns the lead with just one second remaining. Texas stopped NC State's final prayer to seal the victory and ensure Mark's incredible shot stood as the game-winner. Watch Mark's shot below.
