Clemson Takes Charge in Coastal Conference with 6-Run Sweep!

Yahoo Sports

The Clemson Tigers (17–4) kicked off their five‑game road trip with a 3–1 victory over the College of Charleston Cougars on Tuesday night at The Ballpark at Patriots Point, powered by dominant outings on the mound from Dylan Harrison and Noah Samol and a two‑homer performance from Nate Savoie. Clemson wasted no time getting on the board. In the top of the first, Savoie drove an outside pitch into the wind and over the right‑field wall for his eighth home run of the season, giving the Tigers an early 1–0 lead.

Two innings later, he struck again, this time launching a no‑doubt shot to deep left for his second homer of the night and ninth of the year, stretching the advantage to 3–0. That cushion proved more than enough for Clemson’s pitching staff. Freshman Dylan Harrison set the tone with 4 strong innings, repeatedly pitching out of trouble.

After an RBI triple by Will Burgess cut the lead to 3–1 in the third, Harrison stranded the runner at third with no outs. He worked out of another jam in the fourth, inducing a key double play and again leaving a runner 90 feet away. From there, junior left‑hander Noah Samol took over and was nearly unhittable.

Samol struck out six batters in 3 2/3 scoreless innings, earning his first win of the season while keeping the Cougars off balance throughout his outing. Hayden Simmerson closed the door with 1 1/3 hitless innings, securing his first save and sealing Clemson’s third straight win. The Tigers remain in Charleston for the next stop on their road trip, taking on The Citadel on Wednesday at 7 p.
