The Vikings kept the two faces of the running back room but lost a quality backup in free agency.

The Minnesota Vikings' running back room was expected to have a facelift this offseason. Aaron Jones was projected to be cut to save the team money, but they were able to renegotiate that deal so he could stick around and remain the RB1 and leader on offense. Behind him is Jordan Mason, who stepped up in a pinch when he was the lone healthy back that could handle that workload.

However, the backs behind them on the depth chart were left up in the air, and now one of them has signed elsewhere. Backup running back and part-time returner, Ty Chandler, is heading to New Orleans and is signing a deal with the Saints. Nick Underhill of NewOreleans.

football was the first to report the signing. Chandler had been with the Vikings since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He racked up 710 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

In total, he has 922 total yards when you include his receiving work as well. This article originally appeared on Vikings Wire: NFL Free Agency: Vikings lose backup RB in free agency to the Saints
