Thunder's Caruso Faces Troubled Evening as He Fails to Tackle Shoefail Shot
Thunder guard Alex Caruso was called for a technical foul Tuesday against the Magic after he lost his shoe, picked it up and used it to block a shot.
ORLANDO, FL — Alex Caruso is always ready to lace them up. You'd expect nothing less from one of the league's fiercest competitors. But Caruso is even willing to compete when his shoes aren't laced up.
That was the case late in the second quarter of the OKC Thunder's road game against the Magic on Tuesday, when Caruso stumbled and lost his left shoe in the process. It didn't stop the 32-year-old guard, who simply picked it up and continued to play defense. Caruso then used his shoe to successfully swat a layup attempt by Tristan da Silva .
But he was called for a shooting foul and a technical foul since doing so is not a legal defensive move. OKC holds a 51-50 lead over Orlando at halftime. This article will be updated.
