Reports growing that Liverpool are ready to replace record arrival after one year Reports are now growing that Liverpool are ready to replace a record-breaking signing after just one year at Anfield. Liverpool signed Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth last summer and broke a record in doing so. He became not just the most expensive left-back in club history but also the most expensive full-back, breaking the record Jeremie Frimpong had set a month before.
The Reds did that because they viewed Kerkez as someone who could lock down the position long-term. He was their pick to replace Andy Robertson and their pick as the future in the role. However, it seems Liverpool may be ready to move on from Kerkez as their big bet at left-back.
That was certainly the suggestion from Germany , who claim the Reds are willing to drop north of โฌ50m on Nathaniel Brown. And now another report, this time from the UK, claims similar. Caughtoffside says Liverpool are busy scouting Lewis Hall and would love to sign him from Newcastle United.
Much as with Brown, Liverpool are only going to drop serious money on a left-back if the arriving player is their first-choice. Neither Hall nor Brown would move for big money to be a backup. It does all suggest a lack of faith in Kerkez as the ultimate pick.
