Now, those barriers are gone. So when Paul Scholes decided to make a sly jibe about his old teammate Michael Carrick’s fortunate winning streak to a million people, all he had to do was tap the Instagram application on his phone and type it out. "Michael has definitely got something special about him, (because) United have been c*** last four games," he wrote.
It’s not the first time the man, who was known in his playing career for being a shy and retiring character, has made some loose comments on social media. This time, though, the impact was especially substantial. His comments were immediately picked up by both traditional media channels and Manchester United aggregators on social platforms, reaching millions more people.
Within days, quotes on the post from another former teammate, Patrice Evra, were being circulated by the bookmaker Stake. “I hope Paul Scholes’ Instagram story is fake, I hope he was hacked,” Evra said. “To be honest, I’m not surprised at that from Scholesy.
