New Bucs DL A'Shawn Robinson praises Vita Vea
New Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson is already looking forward to sharing the field with one of the most dominant players on the team’s defensive front. In a post shared on X by Buccaneers reporter Greg Auman , Robinson spoke about the opportunity to line up alongside nose tackle Vita Vea after signing with Tampa Bay this offseason. “They've got the big dawg up front,” Robinson said when talking about Vea.
“He eats people, kills people, destroys them. To play next to him, to play off each other, is great. ” Vea has established himself as one of the most disruptive interior defenders in the league in recent seasons.
According to Pro Football Focus, he recorded 51 total pressures during the 2025 season while adding four sacks, eight quarterback hits, and 39 hurries across 764 defensive snaps. Robinson brings his own experience to Tampa Bay’s defensive line after spending the 2025 season with the Carolina Panthers. Last year, he logged 702 defensive snaps and produced 31 pressures, including three sacks, six quarterback hits, and 22 hurries while earning a 63.

The Buccaneers’ interior defensive line currently features Calijah Kancey at left defensive end and Vita Vea at nose tackle, with Robinson expected to see time along the right side of the defensive front. Depth options include Elijah Roberts behind Kancey, Elijah Simmons and Jayson Jones behind Vea, and Nash Hutmacher as another rotational option inside.
