Newcastle United boss Howe on trio’s fitness and Tonali’s future at the club following agent comments Eddie Howe says he will make a late decision on whether Sandro Tonali will feature against Barcelona. The midfielder missed his side’s win over Chelsea on Saturday with illness but has travelled with his side to Spain for Newcastle’s Champions League round of 16 second leg, with the two sides level at 1-1 from the first leg . “We’ll have a look at him today,” Howe said.

“All I’ve ever seen from him is someone who is totally committed, very much a part of the team, very selfless at times. “He’s here for the team, he’s not necessarily here for himself. This is the attitude that I’ve seen from him.

“Of course he had a really difficult moment when he first joined and he showed real strength of character to get through that. “I think whenever you’re in this situation you’re really led by the player and, as I say, forget the noise around Sandro. He’s fully committed.
