New Headline: 49ers Star's Struggle to Walk Backwards After Severe Tackle Sparks Wide Controversy
The San Francisco 49ers lost tight end George Kittle at the end of the year to a torn Achilles. However, other injuries might've led to that one.
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle ended his 2025 campaign with a torn Achilles suffered in the team's divisional-round win over the Philadelphia Eagles, but that wasn't the only injury he dealt with. After missing time with a hamstring issue early in the year, Kittle shared in an interview on the " Bussin' With the Boys " podcast with former NFL linebacker Will Compton and offensive tackle Taylor Lewan that he played through multiple torn ligaments at the end of the year that may have led to the Achilles. "When I played the Colts on Monday Night Football, I tore like two ligaments in my ankle, and then I hurt it again because I kept playing on it," Kittle said.
"Then, I was very lopsided or I was compensating really bad. I think that was a big part of it too. I was compensating for the last three weeks on one ankle, so all my weight was on my right side.
I was basically running, everything was on my right side. Then, plus it was a weird position. " Kittle is a freak, and that's not new, so it's not surprising to hear that he played through an injury to try to give his team a shot to make the Super Bowl.
However, now his Achilles tear could keep him from playing in 2026. Knowing Kittle, though, he'll do everything in his power to be back as early as possible.
