Even after former Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber opted back into his contract with the team, the Blue Jays added Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce to their pitching staff.
Plus they reunited with future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer on another one-year pact. Those arms will be joining Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios and Eric Lauer on a deep and talented list of pitchers, giving the team more than enough options for the Opening Day rotation. “The Blue Jays were held to a new standard this offseason, challenged to meet all of the expectations of a legitimate World Series contender, not just a team hoping to be invited to the party,” Keegan Matheson wrote for MLB.
