Fantasy player of the century arrives for real: Kyler Murray's electrifying debut sets franchise alight!
What are the fantasy football ramifications of Kyler Murray signing with the Minnesota Vikings?
Last season was a tough spot to be in if you owned redraft or dynasty stock in any Minnesota Vikings players, especially if you were a Justin Jefferson owner. The quarterback play was atrocious, the running game could never establish itself, and the team's leading touchdown scorer, Jalen Nailor, is now in Las Vegas. However, with Kyler Murray signing a one-year deal in Minnesota, could the fantasy outlook for the Vikings be different?
The massive winner here is Justin Jefferson. Last season, he finished as WR21 and the 65th overall player in PPR leagues. He would end the year with 84 receptions for 1,048 yards and two touchdowns.
While he may not be fully back to his 2022 season, where he was WR1 with a staggering 368. 66 fantasy points, he will benefit immensely from a massive upgrade at quarterback. He should easily see another top ten finish, at worst.
For the running backs, it will be hard to buy stock in either Jordan Mason or Aaron Jones Sr. Kyler Murray's rushing upside and ability to make plays out of nothing will dampen expectations for either back. The run game should be more involved this year; however, it will be worth monitoring whether Kevin O'Connell dials up some quarterback options to get Murray into open space.
