New Headline: Falkirk Secures Victory Over Sibbald in Vital Match
Falkirk have apologised to Dundee United over the way Craig Sibbald's pre-contract signing was announced, according to the Tannadice club. Sibbald has agreed to return to his boyhood club in the summer when his United contract expires, with a three-year deal in place. The 30-year-old spent the first seven years of his professional career with Falkirk before a spell at Livingston, moving to Tannadice in 2022.
Falkirk's announcement that the midfielder was returning to the club including images of him signing a deal and wearing a Bairns scarf. United say Falkirk have since been in contact to apologise for the images, which angered some supporters. A brief statement issued by United read: "Dundee United are aware of an announcement made yesterday by Falkirk FC regarding a pre-contract agreement with one of our players, which included imagery not appropriate to the circumstances.
"We have since received a formal apology from Falkirk, which we have accepted. While we are disappointed with how the situation was handled, we now consider the matter closed. " After agreeing the deal, Sibbald told Falkirk club media: "I'm very proud to be coming back home where it all started.
"This club means everything to me and I'm delighted to sign a deal to return to my boyhood team that I grew up supporting. I can't wait to put the Falkirk shirt on again and give everything for the badge. "The opportunity to come back at this stage of my career feels right and I can't wait to get started next season.
"Once a bairn always a bairn. "
