Trent McDuffie's contract comes with a lower 2026 cap hit, $50 million fully guaranteed and a practical value of $107.5M for 4 years.
After giving up a first-round pick and three other selections for Trent McDuffie, the Los Angeles Rams proceeded to give him a massive new contract to stick around beyond the 2026 season. They signed him to a four-year, $124 million extension , making him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history with a $31 million annual salary. He was already signed through 2026 thanks to the fifth-year option on his rookie deal, but his new contract kicks in after that .
So he’s now under contract for the next five years, putting him in line to hit free agency in 2031. The initial terms of his contract were previously reported but Over The cap has the full details now, releasing them on Tuesday morning. Guaranteed money McDuffie got $100 million guaranteed, as it was initially reported, but only $50 million of that is fully guaranteed at signing.
The other $50 million guaranteed will come at later dates. On the fifth day of the 2027 league year, McDuffie’s $26. 3 million 2028 salary becomes guaranteed.
Then on the fifth day of the 2028 league year, another $23 million of his 2029 salary becomes guaranteed. His signing bonus was only $14 million, which was prorated to $2. 8 million per year over the next five seasons.
