Maye's Return Sparks Patriots Dynasty; NFL Prepares for Next Big Thing!
Patriots fullback Reggie Gilliam sees a lot of similarities between Drake Maye and Josh Allen.
New England Patriots fullback Reggie Gilliam shared his first impressions of quarterback Drake Maye after meeting him for the first time last week. Gilliam signed a three-year, $10. 8 million contract with the Patriots in free agency.
There is hope that the former Buffalo Bill can help boost the Patriots' rushing attack as he did for All-Pro running back James Cook during his time playing for the division rival. "When I walked in, I saw him for the first time and I was like, 'Wow, he's bigger than I expected,'" Gilliam said of Maye, via ESPN's Mike Reiss . "[Drake] has a lot of the same qualities as Josh.
I believe in him a ton and am anxious to see what he can do. " Maye being compared with Bills quarterback Josh Allen, the former NFL MVP, isn't anything new, but it does carry more weight coming from one of Allen's former teammates. Gilliam is viewed as one of the best fullbacks in the NFL.
He should bring additional physicality to the run game for a Patriots team with two talented running backs in Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. The veteran fullback will also bring additional pass protection for Maye when he drops back in the pocket. Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has a long history of getting the most out of the fullback position.
