Fields Heading Back Home in Buckeye Blue!

Justin Fields will try once again to show what he can do as a quarterback in the NFL after being traded by the New York Jets.

It's been a bumpy NFL ride to say the least for former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, and now the former Buckeye will be on the move once again. In college, he was one of the best players in the nation. Transferring to Ohio State from Georgia , he would lead OSU to the College Football Playoffs in both 2019 and 2020, with the 2019 season ending in a controversial game with Clemson and 2020 falling to Alabama in the National Championship.

Fields would parlay his success into a first-round draft pick by the Chicago Bears . But multiple head coaches and offensive coordinators, along with the Bears' failure to invest in a capable offensive line, left Fields as the scapegoat for the team's failed seasons in Chicago. The Bears would trade Fields to Pittsburgh, where he performed well, but head coach Mike Tomlin was set on veteran Russell Wilson, who was recovering from injury, and was given the job despite Fields leading the Steelers to a 4-2 record and 10 total touchdowns.

He would then sign with the New York Jets in 2025, but didn't perform to expectations. It was reported that Fields will be getting yet another fresh start, this time with a real contender, as the Jets have traded the quarterback to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2027 sixth-round pick. As Patrick Mahomes recovers from an ACL tear, Fields will have the opportunity to lead the Chiefs until Mahomes returns.
