He also has one of the sport's all-time great moments. On Tuesday, Sporting News released its ranking of the 140 Greatest Sports Moments, commemorating a publication that dates back to 1886. Crosby, the Pittsburgh Penguins legend, made the list.
And if your mind is working quickly, you likely have already realized it wasn't for a play he made for the Penguins. It's for his Golden Goal in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver for Team Canada against the United States. Crosby received a feed from Jarome Iginla and did the rest, setting off pandemonium across Canada.
"The U. S. finally answered that with a โGolden Goalโ of its own in 2026 by Jack Hughes, but Crosbyโs came on home ice and solidified his forever status as a hockey legend in Canada," writes SN's Bill Bender .
