According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the New York Giants have made one of the best moves of 2026 NFL free agency thus far.

Giants applauded for making 'best overall move' in free agency this offseason originally appeared on The Sporting News . Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here . The New York Giants haven't made any earth-shattering moves in free agency this offseason, but they have made several good ones.

The Giants had some restraints going into the offseason due to cap space , which is why they haven't been able to land multiple top-of-the-market free agents. But there is no question New York is, for the most part, a better team after a week-plus of free agency. One move that made the Giants better was the signing of former Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely, and ESPN's Jeremy Fowler agrees.

He called the Likely signing the "best overall move so far" in free agency this offseason. Here's Fowler's thoughts on the move: The Giants signing tight end Isaiah Likely. A tight end who gets open is a friendly addition for a young quarterback, and Likely will be that for Jaxson Dart.

His presence allows New York to lean into two tight end sets, and at $40 million over three years, Likely's contract is cheaper than that of former Giants receiver Wan'Dale Robinson, who signed a four-year, $78 million deal with Tennessee. While we wouldn't go as far as to say this is the best move of the entire free-agent period so far, it is still a very good one. After all, the Giants had a huge need for more pass-catchers to help Jaxson Dart, which was especially true after Wan'Dale Robinson left in free agency to the Tennessee Titans .
