The Nebraska men’s basketball team has learned its path to a Final Four . The Huskers are a No. 4 seed and have been sent to the South Region.
The Huskers will play the No. 13 Troy Trojans in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament . Nebraska (26-6, 15-5 Big Ten) lost to Purdue in the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten Tournament.
Troy (22-11, 12-6 Sun Belt) defeated Georgia Southern in the Sun Belt Tournament championship game. Nebraska men’s basketball has a complicated history with the NCAA Tournament. It has made eight appearances in school history and is 0-8.
Nebraska is the only power conference school that has never won a March Madness game. The Cornhuskers have had postseason success. They have appeared in 19 National Invitation Tournaments and are 24-18, including the 1996 NIT title.
Last season, Nebraska went out to Las Vegas and won the College Basketball Crown. The Cornhuskers' last NCAA Tournament appearance came in 2024 against Texas A&M . It was the program's first appearance under coach Fred Hoiberg.
