Borussia Dortmund currently not looking to extend the contracts of Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl beyond 2027 Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund are not currently looking to extend the contracts of Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl. Both the contracts of Ricken, the managing director of sport, and Kehl, the sporting director, do not expire until 2027; however, unlike Dortmund, looking to tie down players whose contracts expire in the same year, they are actively not looking to extend the duo’s deals. The reason for this is that they are under scrutiny for their work, especially when it comes to their recent transfer business and squad planning.
While Ricken and Kehl do not regularly see eye to eye, the two have clashed. Who decides their futures at Dortmund? Ultimately, the decision is down to President Hans-Joachim Watzke on whether he wishes to extend Ricken’s contract, and then Ricken decides the future of Kehl.
Add to this, Markus Krösche remains a target at the Signal Iduna Park, and there has previously been contact between the club and Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting CEO. GGFN | Jack Meenan
