Montgomery's Elite High School Lizards Rumble to an Epic Win This Season!

The winter high school sports season in the Montgomery area are over. The AHSAA boys and girls basketball state championships brought about the end to the winter season. The Montgomery area saw Blue Maps brought back to the capital city in boys basketball, bowling, wrestling and girls basketball.
The winter sports season was a display of great athletic performances in the Montgomery area, but a few of those individuals stood out above the rest. The Montgomery Advertiser is asking readers to help decide who was the wonder of the winter sports season in the Montgomery area between 15 selected athletes in five different sports. Voting will last until noon on Tuesday, March 24.
Boys Basketball Braden Gordon, Montgomery Academy Gordon was named the MVP of state tournament in 3A, and played a pivotal role in Montgomery Academy repeating as champions. Gordon scored over 470 points in 2025-26 and grabbed close to 200 rebounds. Matthias Gourdine, Montgomery Catholic Montgomery Catholic utilized a surge in the second half of the season to claim an area title in 4A and make an appearance in the Elite 8.
Gourdine played a pivotal role in that run, demonstrating toughness in his drives to the basket. Gourdine capped off the 2025-26 season with over 350 points scored, and earned MVP honors in all-area tournament. Noah Trotter, Marbury It was a great for Marbury with an Elite 8 appearance behind the performance of Trotter in the 2025-26 season.
