Yang’s recent form was highlighted at the weekend when he scored twice in the Hoops’ 3-1 victory over Motherwell, taking his tally for the season to eight goals. Yang last appeared for South Korea in a World Cup qualifying match in June, when he came off the bench during a 4-0 win over Kuwait to earn the sixth cap of his international career. Now back in the national setup, he has the opportunity to strengthen his case for a World Cup berth after being included in the squad for upcoming friendlies.
South Korea will face Ivory Coast in Milton Keynes before travelling to Vienna to take on Austria later this month. Korean boss Hong said via The National : “ Yang Hyun-jun has shown good form as a wing-back and recently he has also been playing as a winger and is showing even better form than before with Celtic. “I am delighted about the competition for the right side of the national team.
I do not view this roster as the finalised list ahead of the World Cup. I want to take the players with the best competitiveness, skill, and condition around May. ” “Even then, anyone could join the national team, and we must also take into account issues such as injuries.
