Alabama Beach Boys Defeat NJCAA Champion in Historic Victory
MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The postseason run continues for the Coastal Alabama men’s basketball team. The Coyotes advance to the second round of the NJCAA D-II National Tournament after a win over Rockland.
The No. 14 seed Coastal Alabama – North defeated No. 19 seed Rockland Community College (N.
Y. ) 82-58 at the Mary Miller Center in Danville, Illinois. The Coyotes, led by head coach Chuck Taylor, began the tournament with an impressive win fueled by a 20-5 run in the first half.
Sophomore Chimeziri Okeoma led the charge with a game-high 32 points while shooting 12-of-21 from the floor. Point guard Elijah Pippins added 16 points. Bryce Wilkins finished with a double double (13 points and 11 rebounds) and Bryson Holmes came through with eight points and pulled down eight boards.
