The Boston Celtics came through in the clutch in the fourth quarter to outlast the scrappy Phoenix Suns.

BOSTON — The Boston Celtics engaged in a back-and-forth contest with the Phoenix Suns on Monday night, but they ultimately prevailed 120-112 at TD Garden with the help of star Jaylen Brown, who recorded 18 of his 41 points in the fourth quarter. Brown's high-scoring performance matched his best offensive output since Jan. 17.

He shot a career-high 21 free throws in the victory and stole the ball from Suns guard Devin Booker with 3:10 to go in the final frame, leading to a layup from Celtics star Jayson Tatum that forced a Phoenix timeout. From that point on, the C's outscored the Suns 10-1. Loud MVP chants for Jaylen Brown: pic.

Celtics guard Derrick White also pitched in with 21 points (and 5 triples) and point guard Payton Pritchard tallied 19 points off the bench.

As for the Suns, Booker posted 40 points, enough for his most at TD Garden since he dropped 70 nearly a decade ago in 2017. Wing Haywood Highsmith provided a spark off the bench for the Suns with 16 points in 19 minutes, yet they couldn't overcome the consistency of the Celtics. Boston is now 45-23 on the season and well ahead of the preseason projections placed upon it.
