SPRINGFIELD ― At the Universal Training Academy gym on Oakland Street, a group of young men warmed up on a recent Friday night. As they dropped down and pop back up doing burpees, the group argued about which sport is the hardest. One said baseball, another basketball, and someone else claims golf, then wrestling.
All of them were training to box. Among them was Pat “The Gorilla Ninja” Casey — a fighter on the rise in the Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship . That Friday-night energy in the gym reflected what Casey is building toward — a stage much bigger than Oakland Street.

“I’m moving up in the company,” he said. “This will be my third win in a row. The guy ( Zeb Vincent ) I’m fighting has a lot of BKFC experience, so it’s definitely going to be a good fight.
