Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson was heavily rumored to be a likely fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2026 when the pre-draft process started. That sentiment has cooled since the NFL Combine, as the Steelers continue to invest their resources elsewhere. With draft analyst Todd McShay leading the charge, perhaps it is time the Steelers bought back in on the potential first-round quarterback.

In his latest episode of “The McShay Show,” McShay did a deep dive on this year’s quarterback class. Aside from Heisman trophy winner Fernando Mendoza, the consensus on the 2026 quarterback class is low. But McShay has remained high on Simpson throughout the entire process, repeatedly stating that, through nine weeks, the Alabama quarterback’s tape was better than that of the future No.

And once he identifies that, his brain is like — it’s like the beautiful mind. “I promise you that aspect of his game I haven’t seen since Joe Burrow in 2019. ” McShay went on to explain that he is in no way  saying that Simpson is Burrow.
