Epic Titans Clash for Star Power Domination!
A pair of Mid-Hoosier Conference teams took to the hardwood at Seymour High School Saturday in hopes of winning the regional championship. Class A No. 3 Hauser jumped out to a 23-8 first quarter lead against South Decatur and the Jets surged to the regional title 74-54.
South ends the season at 18-7. The Jets improve to 25-2 as they head to the semistate at Washington. Hauser’s Bill Miller opened the scoring with a left-corner 3-pointer.
Gavin Keller scored on the fastbreak to extend the early Hauser lead. A drive by South’s Drake Scaggs got the Cougars on the board. After a 3-pointer from Hauser’s Stryker Gill, South’s Scaggs hit a free throw and Aidan Bryant scored on the fastbreak to cut the deficit to 8-5.
Hauser then put together an 8-1 run with Joel Bechtel’s bucket giving the Jets a 16-6 lead. A bucket by Scaggs in the lane stopped the run, but the Jets closed the quarter on a 7-0 run, with Kameron Blair and Gill both hitting 3-pointers. After one quarter, the Jets led 23-8.
A pair of free throws by Blair opened the second quarter. South got on the board with a bucket by Cayden Drake in the lane. Karson Templeton’s 3-pointer from the top of the key cut the deficit to 28-13.
