Chiefs' Pro Bowler Chris Jones Flips for $5M: Cam Jordan's Super Bowl Trade of the Decade!

It's been quiet from Cameron Jordan's side, but Chris Jones is making a run at the Saints free agent. Could he sign with the Kansas City Chiefs?

This probably means nothing. But it might mean something. You may have missed it during the deluge of NFL roster moves and free agency reports at last week's deadline, but Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones made a public recruiting pitch for New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan.

Minutes before Jordan's contract with the Saints voided and left behind more than $18 million in dead money, officially making him a free agent, Jones tweeted out his name with an ellipsis trailing off in thought. It's easy for musings like those to slip through the cracks. And it's looking like the Chiefs plan to compete this year.

They signed Super Bowl-winning running back Kenneth Walker III to a big free agent contract and traded for Justin Fields to start while Patrick Mahomes rehabs his injured knee. But their defense has taken some big hits after they traded cornerback Trent McDuffie, with his fellow corner Jaylen Watson following him to the Los Angeles Rams. They lost safety Bryan Cook in free agency, too.

Adding Jordan to a defensive line anchored by Jones, George Karlaftis III (30. 5 career sacks) and free agent pickup Khyiris Tonga could make up for a thin secondary. While Steve Spagnuolo didn't make many fans in New Orleans, the Chiefs defensive coordinator has been a central figure in their success over the last decade, and Jordan broke out with eight sacks in his 2012 sophomore season running point in Spags' defense.
