Roger McCreary Returns Stronger, Igniting Detroit's Postseason Push!
Cornerback Roger McCreary, who agreed to join the Detroit Lions on a one-year deal last week, said the team's "winning culture" appealed to him.
During his brief four-month stint with the Los Angeles Rams this past season, Roger McCreary was exposed to playoff football for the first time in his career. The 26-year-old defensive back loved every bit of it – from the raised intensity to the enormous stakes attached to each outcome. “It was great for me,” he said.
“People always say the game speed is different from the regular season, and it definitely is. I was excited just to play in that atmosphere. … I feel like it was great for me to experience that, and I look forward to experiencing that more.
” McCreary’s pursuit of that competitive high is what led him to finalize a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions late last week. While McCreary’s new team did not qualify for the postseason in 2025, it has consistently been in the playoff hunt in recent years. As McCreary saw it, the Lions still had something good cooking in Motown.
“I want to be part of … a winning culture, and I feel like that’s the vibe here,” he said.
