Local legends lead with ease: Southwest, Ragsdale claim Varsity Classic victory

THOMASVILLE – Southwest Guilford won 13-2 against Ledford in the HiToms Varsity Classic baseball showcase Saturday at Finch Field. Chase Talent had four hits, including a double and a home run, and six RBIs to lead the Cowboys (4-3), who led 7-1 through three innings and scored in all but one inning. Connor Kennedy added three hits, while Brendan Snider doubled twice and drove in a run.

Kaden Morgan got the pitching win, striking out six in four innings. Lawson took the loss, with one strikeout in 2 1/3 innings. Hutton Coltrain had two hits and an RBI for the Panthers (1-5).

Jaiden Burchette added an RBI. RAGSDALE, OAK GROVE THOMASVILLE – Ragsdale beat Oak Grove 7-0 in the HiToms Varsity Classic baseball showcase Saturday at Finch Field. Thristan Figueroa had two hits, including a double, and an RBI for the Tigers (6-2), while Ryan Hendricks also had two hits and an RBI.

Aiden Chafin doubled and drove in two runs, while Camden McGill also had a hit and two RBIs. Hendricks got the complete-game pitching win for Ragsdale, striking out seven. Carson Everhart struck out five in 2 1/3 innings for the Grizzlies.

Aiddison Terry and Everhart each had a hit for Oak Grove (4-3). HIGH POINT CENTRAL, MONTGOMERY CENTRAL TROY – High Point Central lost 10-0 in five innings against Montgomery Central in PAC Seven 4A/5A baseball Friday at Montgomery Central. The Bison moved to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
