The stars on the new helmets at the Tennessee Titans' new uniform and logo reveal party were aligned incorrectly. Why was that the case?

After months of hype and speculation that led up to the Tennessee Titans' new logo and jersey reveal on March 12 , the team still needed to issue a retraction based on a mistake made in the printing on its helmets. The stars featured on the team's new logo were incorrectly aligned on the helmets worn by players in the reveal as well as the replica helmets available for sale at the event. On the official Titans logo, the top star should be aligned straight up, while the two stars below the "T" should be angled inward at a tilt, as was the case on the previous "fireball era" logo.

At the event, all the stars in the logo were aligned upward. A source told The Tennessean that the mistake was the result of incorrect decals being sent to the team for marketing purposes. The mistake was not seemed significant enough to delay the event but will be corrected on the non-promotional gear the Titans wear on the field.

Any fans who purchased merchandise with the incorrect star alignment will be able to trade in their gear at the Titans team shop. The Titans' new logo features a white block T over a "Titans blue" circle with three white stars surrounding the T. The blue circle is enclosed within a white trim outline, which is enclosed within another circle, this one red.

The logo is a departure from the previous logo, which first debuted in December 1998 and featured a silver sword shaped like a T, three red stars around it, a navy blue base circle and flames of red and Titans blue coming off the upper left side of the logo. Along with the new logo, the Titans unveiled a pair of new jerseys, neither of which feature the logo. One set of jerseys is Titans blue with white numbers and red trim.
