The Carolina Panthers are running it back with one of their big legs from the 2025 campaign. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Panthers have agreed to terms on a new deal with punter Sam Martin. Per Rapoport, the 36-year-old veteran is expected to sign a two-year pact.

After splitting the first 12 seasons of his NFL career between the Detroit Lions (2013 to 2019), the Denver Broncos (2020 to 2021) and the Buffalo Bills (2022 to 2024), Martin joined the Panthers on a one-year contract last spring. He went on to punt for an average net of 40. 5 yards and recorded the ninth-most attempts inside the 20-yard line (27).

Martin joins a long list of players who are set to return to the reigning NFC South champions for 2026โ€”one that includes wide receiver David Moore, tight end James Mitchell, defensive lineman LaBryan Ray, outside linebacker Thomas Incoom, inside linebacker Claudin Cherelus, cornerbacks Akayleb Evans and Robert Rochell, safeties Nick Scott and Isaiah Simmons and long snapper JJ Jansen.
