One of their biggest signings saw them hand former New York Jets offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker a three-year, $42 million contract, which will presumably see him come in and be the team's new starting left guard. After spending the first five seasons of his career with the Jets, Vera-Tucker will now join the other side of one of the most lopsided rivalries in the NFL after signing with the Patriots . Vera-Tucker knows that, in a way, he's betraying New York and its fans, but it sounds like that's a decision he is at peace with now that he's put pen to paper.
"I'll be real with you, playing for the Jets for the past five years, you develop a certain type of hate for this team," Vera-Tucker said of the Patriots. "At the end of the day, this league is a business. I have to do what's best for myself and my family.
