Pittsburgh's Elite Coaching Strategy Sets Up Ultimate Win Streak!
Michigan's new basketball coach Dusty May and football coach Kyle Whittingham are ranked fourth nationally by CBS Sports.
Michigan basketball is set to embark upon what could be a very favorable NCAA Tournament as the No. 3 overall team and 1-seed in the Midwest region. After a 31-3 regular season and Big Ten Tournament, the Wolverines have been exemplary on the hardwood.
And the gridiron has a chance to be special now that former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham is leading the charge. CBS Sports' Brad Crawford put the football and basketball coaches together across the country and ranked each program's coaches after the combination. With Dusty May having taken the worst Michigan basketball team of all time and made it a title contender in two years, and Kyle Whittingham expected to have solid results following his tenure in Salt Lake City, Crawford has the tandem ranked fourth in the country.
4. Dusty May and Kyle Whittingham, Michigan By all accounts, a fantastic hire in 2024 by the Wolverines following Juwan Howard's firing after a 24-loss season, May has provided the program with immediate credibility at the top of the polls. The Wolverines reached the Sweet 16 in his first season and hold a No.
1 seed in the Midwest Region this time around. May's an analytics guru of sorts, and his teams always rank amongst the game's most efficient offensively. Speaking of coaching hires that move the needle nationally, Michigan landed a gem with Whittingham in December, coaxing the veteran Utah coach to take over in Ann Arbor.
