According to ESPN and Bama247 , the 21-year-old basketball player was arrested on Monday, March 16 after West Alabama Narcotics Task Force officials allegedly discovered "more than a pound of marijuana, paraphernalia and cash" inside of a residence on 30th Avenue East near Alabama's campus.

Tuscaloosa Police told ESPN that Holloway, a junior at Alabama, was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp. PEOPLE has reached out to Tuscaloosa Police and the University of Alabama for comment. Holloway's participation in the upcoming March Madness tournament remains in question amid his arrest. He was averaging 16.
