Duke head coach Jon Scheyer updated the status of starting guard Caleb Foster and center Patrick Ngongba as the Blue Devils begin the NCAA Tournament.

Duke has won 11 straight games entering the NCAA Tournament, including running through the ACC tourney for its second straight title, capped with a 74-70 victory over Virginia on Saturday, despite injuries to two starters: Caleb Foster and Patrick Ngongba. As the Blue Devils start the NCAA Tournament on Thursday against Siena as the top overall seed, Jon Scheyer gave an update on the status of the two players. "Caleb is going to be a little while still," Scheyer said on Sunday.

"Again, he's progressing well. โ€ Foster fractured his foot in the final regular-season game against North Carolina and has been out since. Still, his impact on the bench continues to help the Blue Devils.

"Caleb, I've never seen a guy shoot so much in a scooter," Scheyer said. "... Multiple times a game, I have to ask him to shut up for one second just to get in a few coaching points.

While Foster is out for some time, the news seems better on Ngongbaโ€™s potential return. "As far as Pat goes, I think he's been doing his therapy, working with the medical team,โ€ Scheyer said. โ€œThey're just benchmarks.
