Aged 16 years and 73 days, Arsenal’s Max Dowman created history against Everton to become the Premier League’s youngest goalscorer. It was a record that had stood for 21 years. As well as his goal, Dowman played a key role in Viktor Gyokeres’ opener, setting Arsenal on the way to a precious victory in their quest for the title.

Despite Dowman making his Premier League debut at 15 against Leeds United in August and becoming the youngest player in Champions League history against Slavia Prague in November, it was in those 23 minutes against Everton that Dowman announced himself to the wider world.
