The Blues face an almost impossible task of turning around a 5-2 scoreline, and do so on the back of a really painful 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle on Saturday. The mood can’t be great. To make things worse, there’s not even full attendance in the session.
Some of the journalists there have noticed a couple of players missing. Chelsea players miss pre PSG session Nizaar Kinsella of the BBC is watching the session, and has noted that both Reece James and Jamie Gittens are not taking part. In James’ case we’d assume this is a planned absence.
He played a lot of minutes in the last couple of weeks and is probably just being given an extra day off compared to his teammates. In Gittens’ case, it shows that the setback in his recovery from injury we heard about from Liam Rosenior is clearly as bad as feared. On Saturday evening the manager said that Gittens “was due back on the bench” but had “felt his hamstring after training.
” Clearly he’s still feeling it. On the other hand Estevao Willian, who has been struggling with an injury since the win over Hull last month, is back working with the group.
