Is Baltimore doing enough here?

Ravens called into question for Lamar Jackson support system plan originally appeared on The Sporting News . Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here . The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson have never made it to a Super Bowl together.

Some Ravens fans will point to Jackson's relative struggles in the postseason, but that probably doesn't tell the whole story. And the 2025 season was rough, yes, but injuries weren't kind to Jackson. The reality, raised by The Athletic's Jordan Rodrigue , is one in which the Ravens haven't necessarily surrounded Jackson with perfect help.

He's a two-time MVP and an incredible individual talent. But even the best quarterbacks don't win Super Bowls by themselves (see: Josh Allen in Buffalo). This is part of what Rodrigue wrote in a new article on Monday: While the league at large viewed the initial trade agreement for Maxx Crosby as an overpay, I saw it as a statement from Eric DeCosta and Co.

that these were not going to be the โ€œjust good enoughโ€ Ravens anymore . Then they rescinded the trade and signed a good pass rusher in Trey Hendrickson, but injuries and age are real questions there. Meanwhile, in an era during which Lamar Jacksonโ€™s prime must be maximized (not Maxx-imized, apparently), I still have questions about his group of skill players, the offensive line and the longer-term outlook of the running backs room.
