Kentucky vs. Santa Clara in Sweet 16: Expect an Explosive Showdown!

Yahoo Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats will face Santa Clara in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Here's a look at the matchup.

The Kentucky Wildcats now know their NCAA Tournament path, and it begins on Friday in the Midwest Region. The Cats are the No. 7 seed in that bracket and will face No.

10 seed Santa Clara to open up difficult road to the Final Four. Looking ahead would be foolish, however. Santa Clara doesn't come from a major conference, but they are a very good team and will provide a difficult test for Kentucky.

The Broncos are 26-8 this season and made it to the West Coast Conference championship game. Santa Clara's strengths match up well with Kentucky's weaknesses. The Broncos are one of the best teams in the country at getting offensive rebounds.

They feature plenty of size in the frontcourt, including 7'1" center Bukky Oboye. They also shoot a lot of three pointers, something the Wildcats haven't always defended well. Kentucky's defense will need to be strong, especially on the perimeter.
