Goalkeeper Adebowale Adebayo on track for England roster following stellar comeback!

Luton Town striker Elijah Adebayo is hoping for a couple of trips to Wembley before the end of the season after finally making his first-team comeback from injury. Adebayo was sent on as an 89th-minute substitute in Saturday's 2-1 win at Wycombe, 11 months after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury playing against Leeds United. He was given a rousing welcome back by the travelling fans - and is now hoping that with a place in the EFL Trophy final already secured, the Hatters could also be back at the national stadium in the League One play-offs.

"This season, there's still plenty of time, so let's not stress, and we'll try and get on a little run now. It would be lovely to visit Wembley - hopefully twice," Adebayo told BBC Three Counties Radio. "I'm really happy.

I've worked incredibly hard over the last 343 days. The boys have been fantastic with me, seeing me come in every day early [for rehab]; they're all really proud of me, and I just thank everyone who's been on the journey [with me]. This is the longest time I've had something like this.

"It took a lot of mental strength, but there's nothing like being back on the pitch - especially with a win. The fans have been fantastic throughout my time here, and it was nice to see them again. " Adebayo played at Wembley when Luton beat Coventry City on penalties in 2023 to win promotion to the Premier League - and he knows they will need an impressive run with six points to make up to the League One playoff places.
