The Dallas Cowboys still need help at inside linebacker and one analyst thinks a former New York Giants defender would be a perfect fit.

Cowboys named potential landing spot for Giants $36 million free agent originally appeared on The Sporting News . Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here . We're through one week of free agency and the Dallas Cowboys have yet to address one of their bigger needs on defense.

That need comes at linebacker, where the Cowboys have a vacancy next to starter DeMarvion Overshown after Dallas cut ties with Logan Wilson earlier in the offseason. In order to remedy the situation, Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport named New York Giants free-agent linebacker Bobby Okereke as a possible option for the Cowboys in free agency. "The Cowboys allowed the third-most yards per game last year and were the only team in the NFL that surrendered 30 points per game," Davenport said.

"If the Cowboys are going to get back to the postseason, the team needs a steadying hand at just about every level of the defense," Davenport added. "Okereke would provide one. " Okereke was cut loose by the Giants after struggling last season.

However, Okereke has typically been an above-average starting linebacker during his career, at worst, so perhaps that was an outlier and the veteran can return to form with a change of scenery. When at his best, Okereke is an asset in every area. He's a sure tackler, strong run defender and blitzer, and can hold his own in coverage.
