Kansas City Chiefs team president Mark Donovan recently spoke at the Olathe Chamber of Commerce Luncheon. He discussed the possibility of a women's flag football team representing the franchise. "That young girl from Olathe comes back with a medal around her neck, she'll have the opportunity potentially to play professional flag football in a league that's going to be started and owned by the National Football League," Donovan said via FOX 4 News .

"and one that I would tell you without making any promises, the Kansas City Chiefs will be heavily involved in and potentially play for a Chiefs' version of professional flag football. " Donovan believes the high schools in this school district could train at a new complex in Olathe once it's built. He reportedly told the crowd to call their district athletic director to lobby for support for KSHSAA approving women's flag football.

Flag football is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, with over 20 million players across 100 countries, where women and girls are driving the fastest growth. The sport will officially be included in the LA 2028 Olympic Games program, led by the International Federation of American Football and supported by the NFL. Hopes for the new headquarters and training facility are that they will be open by December 2030.
