Truro City's players were left dejected as they lost for the seventh time in eight games [Shutterstock] Truro City assistant manager Stewart Yetton says some of his players need to "have a good, long, hard look at themselves" after the 1-0 loss to Hartlepool United. The defeat was a seventh in eight league games for the Tinners, who are 11 points from safety and nine adrift at the bottom of the National League. Charlie Caton's goal early in the second half ensured yet another disappointing day for Truro, who have won just once since Boxing Day.

"It probably goes up to about the 12th or 13th game now where it's a close game and we come out on the losing side," Yetton told BBC Radio Cornwall. "It's so incredibly disappointing and frustrating - the manner of the goal is poor again, and we've had to say to a few of them in there to have a good, long, hard look at themselves. " With nine games to play, Truro would need a footballing miracle to stay in the fifth tier for a second successive season.

They have won just six games in their first-ever campaign in the National League and realistically need at least the same amount again from their remaining matches to have any hope of staying up. But Yetton says he and the squad will not give up: "We'll come to training on Monday, and we'll get straight back on the horse. "We'll try and stay positive, we'll try and motivate the players, we said to them before the game, and we said it to them after, they've got to find something within.

"This football club is a special place, and they've got to improve their performances. " Related internet links Truro City FC
