McMillan Lights Up Semifinals for Aggies
Watch Texas A&M HC Bucky McMillan along with seniors Rashaun Agee and Rylan Griffen discuss facing St. Mary's in the first round of March Madness.
Texas A&M accomplished its primary goal the day first-year head coach Bucky McMillan was hired, as the Aggies are headed to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season after finishing the regular season 21-11, and tied for fourth in the SEC standings with an 11-7 conference record. During Selection Sunday, it was revealed that Texas A&M earned one of four 10-seeds, and will face 7-seed Saint Mary's on Thursday night, and, as we've seen in years past, this will serve as a mismatch on paper from a size perspective, knowing that the Gaels are the 13th tallest team in the country, possessing three players who are at least 7'0". However, Texas A&M's offense, which averages nearly 88 points per game, must play at a fast pace, force early turnovers, shoot 45% or better from beyond the arc, and force Saint Mary's to shoot inside.
The Aggies' press defense has been relentless all season, and must carry over into next week. After the matchup was revealed, Bucky McMillan, senior forward Rashaun Agee, and senior guard Rylan Griffen spoke to the local media in attendance, with the first-year coach stating that this is a "one-game season" here on out and focusing on how to deal with Saint Mary's size advantage. Here is everything all three men had to say before the Aggies head to Oklahoma City later this week.
Texas A&M will face Saint Mary's in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, March 19, at 6:45 p. m. , airing on TBS.
