Texas A&M missed the NCAA Tournament but secured a No. 1 seed in the WBIT and will host McNeese on March 19 as the Aggies chase postseason hardware.

The Texas A&M women’s basketball team may have missed out on the NCAA Tournament, but their season is far from finished. The Aggies have accepted an invitation to the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT) and will return to the court on Thursday. On Sunday, A&M was selected as one of the four No.

1 seeds in the WBIT and will host its first‑round matchup at Reed Arena. The Aggies will face McNeese on March 19 as they begin their pursuit of a postseason championship. Head coach Joni Taylor made it clear that while her team felt deserving of an NCAA Tournament berth, they are fully locked in on the opportunity ahead.

“Although we are disappointed to not be selected to participate in March Madness, we are extremely excited to compete for a championship in the WBIT. We will respond like we have all year, the right way. " Texas A&M closed the regular season on a surge, but an early upset loss in the first round of the SEC Tournament ultimately proved costly to their NCAA hopes.

Even so, the turnaround remains one of the most compelling storylines of the year. A team that once looked out of the postseason picture now enters the WBIT with momentum, purpose, and a chance to finish its season with hardware. THEY’RE IN!
