The 63-year-old ended up with 68 per cent of the vote and was in bullish mood as he celebrated another term at the helm of the club. “This result is resounding and gives us great strength, so much so that it makes us unstoppable. Nobody will stop us; we will continue to defend Barça against everyone.
Exciting years are coming, and they will be the best years of our lives. ” Font was quick to congratulate his opponent but admitted his disappointment at failing to win. “We are saddened because we were very excited about transforming the club and bringing it closer to its fans.
It’s a shame,” he said. “But we accept the result, as we must, and congratulate the president-elect, Joan Laporta, and his board of directors. ” Barcelona can now look forward to another five years with Laporta in charge and will be hoping for more success on the pitch too in the coming years.
