Steelers Center Focuses on Ground Game as Rodgers Leads Offensive Shift!

Yahoo Sports

The major question of the Pittsburgh Steelers offseason is whether Aaron Rodgers will return for another season or retire. If Rodger decides to call it a career, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio believes Derek Carr could be a viable option for the Steelers. “Carr becomes a potential option in Pittsburgh if Aaron Rodgers decides not to play for the Steelers again in 2026, and if they don’t land Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson in the first round of the draft,” Florio wrote on Saturday.

“(Some in league circles think the Steelers will take him if he’s on the board when Pittsburgh makes the 21st overall pick. ” Carr played 11 seasons in the NFL, spending nine of those with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders and two with the New Orleans Saints. He announced his retirement last May after battling a severe right shoulder labrum tear and significant rotator cuff damage.

If the Steelers want Carr to be their quarterback this season, they’re likely going to have to trade for him since the Saints still hold his rights. It will be interesting to see which direction Pittsburgh takes if Rodgers doesn’t return. Carr would be a nice option, considering he has thrown for 41,245 yards and 257 touchdowns in his career.
