The UConn Huskies women’s basketball team celebrates the 2026 Big East Championship at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT on March 9, 2026. For the first time since 2018, UConn is the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Huskies were revealed as the top seed in the field of 68, headlining the Fort Worth 1 Region. They’ll take on 16-seed UTSA in the first round on Saturday and are slated to face the winner of 8-seed Iowa State and 9-seed Syracuse in the second round on Monday. Tip-times and television information will be released tomorrow.

If chalk holds, the Huskies will play former UConn player and assistant Shea Ralph in the Elite Eight. UTSA is making its third all-time appearance in the big dance after winning the American Conference Tournament despite a sixth-place finish during the regular season.

This will be the first meeting between the Huskies and UTSA. UConn is the No. 1 overall seed for the first time since 2018 and the 15th time in program history (1995, 1997, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018).
